WILMINGTON, Del., July 10 (LSN) – On Thursday, Judge Henry duPont Ridgely handed down sentences to Amy Grossberg and Brian Peterson, a young couple who killed their newborn child and dumped the body in a motel trash bin in November 1996. Initially charged with first-degree murder, the pair could have faced the death penalty, but the charge was lessened to manslaughter and Grossberg and Peterson were sentenced to two-and-a-half and two years respectively. With good behaviour both could be out in less than two years.
