October 29, 2008 (LifeSIteNews.com) – The user by the name of Fmsdude has pulled the series of 40 YouTube videos depicting him desecrating the Eucharist in various ways off the internet.
The young man, by the name of Dominique Poulin, did so in response to an anonymous individual who found out his name, age and address, and wrote a letter to his father suggesting he encourage his son to remove the videos.
The individual who located Dominique said in the letter, “I will not inform the general public about where he lives. I have informed the Church in Québec and other organizations whom act in defense of the Catholic Church. I will not inform the public because with the emotions involved … someone might do him harm. I don’t think that is what Jesus would want.”
Over the last several weeks various Catholic organizations and individuals, including the Catholic Civil Rights League (CCRL), have called on the executive of YouTube to remove the series of videos. Bill Donohue of CCRL pointed out that recent videos showing desecration of a Holocaust memorial were quite properly removed and asked that Catholics be shown the same courtesy.
The organization and thousands of Catholics petitioned YouTube officials to remove the sacrilegious videos.
The videos were originally removed for a few hours in early October, but were reposted again soon after. YouTube, which is owned by Google, then “age-gated” them – that is, marked them as not appropriate for viewers under age 18.
Dominique has posted the letter his father received, and his response, on his YouTube user profile (https://www.youtube.com/user/fsmdude), where he said, “So, yeah, he found out where I live. My father checked my videos.”
“So I made my choice: I’m going to remove my videos, BUT! I won’t say sorry for offending people over a stupid belief … So you know what, I’ve been taken down, but I’ll let the others take care of this as they see fit. UNLEASH HELL ON THEM, BOYS!”
