SEATTLE, Oct 27, 1999 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Bill Gates Foundation has finally responded to American Life League’s population issues education campaign directed at Mr. Gates. ALL president Judie Brown published the letter, which defends population control activities, along with ALL’s responses to their claims.

Among other false claims, the Gates Foundation letter states that “nearly two thirds of” the world’s population is “malnourished, uneducated and lacking the skills and training necessary to cope with their lives.” Brown responded to this idea by noting that “the claim that two-  thirds of the population is malnourished was originally made by the United Nations in 1950.  It was proved to be false then, and continues to be false today.”

She also notes that “according to United Nations data, over 80% of the world population is literate.” And finally, that “according to UN statistics, over 70% of children in India and over 95% of children in China attend primary and secondary schools. Commons sense says that if the kids don’t have the right skills, change the school program, don’t have fewer children.”
