Board Members Need Messages of Support
OSHAWA, April 2, 2002 (LSN.ca) – The Oshawa Catholic School Board supporting one of its high school principals’ refusal to allow a male student from bringing his male “boyfriend” to the school prom is under heavy fire from anti-Catholic groups. A press conference to increase media hype against the board is being held tomorrow.
Toronto Centre – Rosedale MPP George Smitherman, a self-proclaimed homosexual, is sponsoring the press conference involving members of the Coalition in Support of Marc Hall, the student in question. In addition to Hall, Buzz Hargrove (National President, CAW) and Marilyn Byers (President PFLAG – York Region) will be speaking. A brief from Hall to the Durham Catholic District School Board will be released at the press conference to pressure the religious board to change its position and betray fundamental Catholic moral principles on this issue.
