TORONTO, Ontario, September 23, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Liberal MP and gay-pride parade favorite Justin Trudeau is scheduled to speak at an event hosted by the Toronto Catholic District School Board next Tuesday, September 29th.

In addition to Trudeau, Liberal Ontario Health Education Minister Kathleen Wynne – an openly lesbian political figure – and Toronto Mayor David Miller, who is an avid supporter of and participant in Gay Pride in Toronto, are scheduled to speak. Toronto Archbishop Thomas Collins will also be addressing the students.

The event is set to mark the 25th anniversary of the Peace Garden in Nathan Phillips Square, which was initiated by Toronto priest Fr. Massey Lombardi.  Former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, Justin's father, turned over the sod at the inauguration. According to the school board's press release, Justin Trudeau and the others will address 4,000 students from Toronto's Catholic schools.

Trudeau, following in his father's footsteps, is an ardent supporter of the homosexual movement.  He spoke at EGALE's June 5th gala this year, honoring the 40th anniversary of the Omnibus bill, introduced by his father, that decriminalized homosexuality in Canada.  Last month, he participated in the Montreal Pride parade, gaining special media attention for his appearance.  Additionally, earlier this month, when his father was inducted to the new 'Queer Hall of Fame' in Vancouver, Trudeau issued a note saying that he was honored that his father's work was being acknowledged.

In addition to being openly homosexual, Minister Wynne has actively promoted homosexual initiatives, including helping to found a fundraising group that has donated over $50,000 to youth homosexual organizations.

LifeSiteNews.com spoke with the school board's media contact for the event.  She indicated that she would have an official call back, but LSN did not hear by press time.

Neil MacCarthy, director of the Toronto Archdiocese's press office, directed questions to the school board, but explained that Trudeau's invitation was due to the historical connection with his father.  “We're certainly aware of his views on a variety of issues,” he said.  “My understanding is that that's the context that he's been invited in, more the historical context.”
