BONN, Jan 14 (LSN) – German Chancellor Helmut Kohl informed the German newspaper Berliner Zeitung today that he expects Pope John Paul to instruct the German Catholic Church to withdraw from abortion counseling.  Kohl made his announcement after speaking with bishops who had discussed the issue with the pope last year. German laws stipulates that a woman who wants an abortion must discuss her decision first with a counseling service, after which she may have the abortion if she wishes.  Some bishops say the church should have no part in a process that could eventually lead to abortion,  which the Roman Catholic Church considers to be murder. The discussion with the Vatican involved how Catholic family counselors could be “correctly involved” in such cases.
