BERLIN, April 23, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) – German Social Democrats have decreed that, in spite of considerations of discipline and order in the military, soldiers in “relationships” with each other will be allowed to have sex in barracks, whether they are homosexual or heterosexual, single or married. MP’s claimed that the change was necessary to reflect, “social normality.”  MP’s are also claiming that the new rules allowing more sexual activity in the barracks will reduce the number of sexual abuses on women in the service of which 83 claims were made last year.  Historically in military life it is regarded as a threat to discipline to allow “fraternization” between soldiers.

In response to criticism that a change allowing homosexual sex in barracks would create dangerous distractions, a spokesman for the German defence ministry said, “It is more likely that people would become distracted if this were not permitted and couples were not allowed to say goodnight properly. Sexuality is a part of being a human being regardless of whether you wear a uniform.”  Read Telegraph coverage:  https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2004/04/22/wger22.xml&sSheet=/portal/2004/04/22/ixportal.html/news/2004/04/22/wger22.xml
