BERLIN, July 11, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The German government committee on prescription drugs has proposed switching the status of abortifacient morning after pills from prescription-only to over-the-counter. If the measure is approved by the Ministry of Health it will be voted upon by the Upper House of Parliament before becoming official. The news comes on the heels of a Canadian proposal to do the same. Proponents of the scheme are confident of the support of the Health Ministry and suggest that the pills will be available over the counter in pharmacies by January 2004.
