TORONTO, June 10 (Lifesitenews.com) – On Tuesday night, immediately preceding the 11pm news, the Global Television Network aired a sacrilegious “South Park” episode attacking Christianity. The program has already aired in the US prompting strong condemnation from Christian groups.  The cartoon, condemned from the outset for its vulgar and explicit content, has nevertheless gained a large following among young people.

On Tuesday night the program demonstrated overt hatred toward Christianity with sexually explicit slurs that few people would expect to hear voiced in public. One of the show’s character’s, Kyle overhears that his father’s marital discord is due to erectile disfunction. Kyle, misunderstanding the point, set out to buy an erection for his father.

According to the Catholic League’s expose on the show: “The boys meet a priest who invites them to make the Stations of the Cross. The priest explains that Jesus was crucified, and that after three days had a resurrection. “Res-erection?” exclaims Kyle. ‘That’s what my dad needs.’ So they designate another boy, Cartman, as Jesus, hang him on a cross and wait for him to die and have an erection.”

The South Park cartoon is a production of Comedy Central, a joint venture of Time Warner Entertainment Company and Viacom International. The anti-religious media mogul Ted Turner is a major shareholder with Time Warner. On February 16, Turner made anti-Catholic and anti-Polish remarks before the National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association in Washington, D.C. He ridiculed the Ten Commandments (they’re “a little out of date”; “If you’re only going to have 10 rules, I don’t know if prohibiting adultery should be one of them”), and mocked the Pope.
