Kermit Gosnell

OXON HILL, National Harbor, Maryland, February 24, 2017 (LifeSiteNews) – The story of Kermit Gosnell, the Philadelphia doctor who murdered babies born alive after failed abortions, “brought me back to prayer,” the creator of a film about it told CPAC this afternoon.

Ann McElhinney, who with her husband Phelim McAleer created the Gosnell movie, said she was raised Catholic but “was well off the wagon for a really long time…this story brought me back to prayer.”

“The people who worked in Harrisburg in pristine offices…people who had medical backgrounds…they are despicable,” said McElhinney. “They are really bad people…two women died! The bureaucrats in Harrisburg never got into their car. They never left Harrisburg” to inspect Gosnell's abortion facility, a filthy site where women died and babies born alive had their spinal cords “snipped” with scissors.

“Lots and lots of people knew this was going on” because Gosnell patients were ending up in hospitals after botched abortions, she said.

“He’s a serial killer who loved playing God,” said McAleer. A “collector,” Gosnell “took pictures of his patients’ private parts” and kept the feet of babies he aborted in jars.

The duo said Gosnell repeatedly touched McElhinney's leg when they met him.

He's “like a Hannibal Lecter character…straight up central casting for a creep,” said McElhinney.

McElhinney and McAleer considered themselves “neutral” on abortion, they said, which basically meant they supported it. But creating this film – and writing a book about the Gosnell story – opened their eyes to the truth about abortion.

“I’ve seen the photographs” of babies' bodies that were evidence in the trial, said McElhinney. They are “unimpeachable.”

A photo that particularly moved McElhinney was a photo of Baby Boy A, one of the large infants killed after birth by Gosnell. He was at least 32 weeks old.

“This baby is consequential,” she said. “Baby Boy A matters. He has changed people’s lives. I’ve met them.”

The Gosnell movie will be released this fall. More information about it is available here.
