(LifeSiteNews) – Heartbeat International announced Tuesday a new resource tracking documented reports of poisonings and coercion enabled by abortion pills to give the public a fuller picture of at-home chemical abortions’ impact across the United States.
The tracker, hosted on Pregnancy Help News, provides a non-exhaustive list of “publicly reported incidents involving abortion pill poisonings, coerced abortions, and criminal allegations tied to abortion drugs,” including summaries, outcomes, dates, locations, and links to further reading as well as maps displaying at a glance which states have seen such reports. It notes that many such incidents go unreported, but the ones that are will be added to the list on an ongoing basis.
“We are hearing from more women who feel pressured into abortions they do not want, many coerced or forced abortions, and we are increasingly hearing from women who believe they are being poisoned with abortion drugs,” said Heartbeat International senior medical impact director Christa Brown, who also who oversees the Abortion Pill Rescue Network. “Many of these women are frightened, confused, and unsure where to turn. They often are afraid that no one will believe them.”
“Every woman deserves to make decisions about her pregnancy free from coercion, threats, manipulation, violence, or deception,” Brown continued. “When abortion drugs become increasingly accessible outside traditional medical settings, opportunities for misuse also increase. The stories we hear every week remind us that these drugs can be used not only for abortion but, in some cases, as tools of control and abuse.”
Andrea Trudden, Heartbeat International’s vice president of communications and marketing, added that the organization hopes the tracker will “illuminate patterns that might otherwise go unnoticed.”
Mail-order abortion pills have become the abortion lobby’s most potent tool for preserving “choice” without Roe. The latest data from the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute found 1,125,930 clinical abortions in 2025, a slight increase from 2024, that Guttmacher attributed in large part to abortion pills. Planned Parenthood’s 2024-2025 annual report boasts it alone committed 434,450 abortions, a record number for the organization and eight percent more than the previous year.
The abortion lobby’s zest to make abortion pills as easy as possible to distribute and obtain disregards a wealth of evidence indicating they are far from harmless to women even when taken with medical supervision. Pro-lifers point to an April 2025 analysis by the Ethics & Public Policy Center (EPPC) that concluded almost 11% of women suffer sepsis, infection, hemorrhaging, or other major conditions after taking mifepristone, according to insurance data, plus similar findings by the Restoration of America Foundation as part of a “growing body of evidence indicating that the health risks associated with mifepristone abortions are severe, widespread, and significantly underreported.”
Pro-lifers are currently waiting to see how the U.S. Supreme Court will rule on legal challenges to the FDA’s lax abortion-pill regulations, which allow the pills to be dispensed without an in-person medical visit, before a long-promised Trump administration review of the safety data is finally released.
