EDMONTON, Jan 13 (LSN) – The Alberta based Canada Family Action Coalition has asked for help to stop the opening of a bathhouse in Edmonton. The project received approval from Mayor Bill Smith. A similar project which was closed down by authorities for acting as a common bawdy house, Pisces Health Spa, was used by City Councillor Michael Phair. Not surprisingly, the new venture called “Down Under” to be located on Jasper Avenue and 122 Street, is in Phair’s ward. Down Under plans to charge patrons $16 each to use its 41 cubicles to do whatever they please once they’ve been handed condoms by staff. Local area residents are upset at the outrageous proposal and calls of complaint are reaching the Mayor. To help in the effort please call and fax these numbers in the next two weeks: Mayor Bill Smith 496-8100 fax 496-8292 Citizen Action Centre 496-8200 Office of the Councillors 496-8110 fax 493-8113 Ward 1 Wendy Kinsella 496-8122 Lehroy Chahley 496-8120 Ward 2 Rose Rosenberger 496-8128 Allan Bolstead 496-8136 Ward 3 Brian Mason 496-8138 Ward 4 Jim Taylor 496-8140 Michael Phair 496-8146 Ward 5 Brent Maitson 496-8142 Larry Langley 496-8132 Ward 6 Terry Cavanagh 496-8148 ________________________ NOTHING SACRED UPDATE LOS ANGELES, Jan 13 (LSN) – The controversial Catholic-bashing show “Nothing Sacred” continues to push the boundaries of offensiveness. The latest episode features a gay Catholic priest with AIDS. ABC, the network which airs the sacrilegious offering, is withholding the episode due to its content. The US Postal Service has also dropped an advertising spot it planned for the show after consultation with William Donohue, president of the Catholic Civil Rights League in New York. Donohue said, “to think that it’s an arm of the federal government that is sending Disney/ABC a message is even more gratifying”.
