LONDON, May 24 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Bishop of Oxford, the Right Rev Richard Harries, one of the highest ranking Anglican leaders, has seemingly endorsed homosexual marriages with a new publication (the text of a talk given by the bishop) on his diocesan website called Same Sex Relations –  the Unresolved Questions. Commenting on the document to the Times, Colin Hart, of the Christian Institute, an evangelical think-tank, said that the bishop was close to blasphemy,  adding: “He is going as far as he can without actually saying that the Holy Spirit backs same-sex relationships.”

In the talk the bishop scornfully questioned the traditional position on homosexual sex as “disordered”. “Is it possible to regard oneself as deeply loved and cherished by God if one believes that the nature he has given one, a nature which expresses one’s deepest feelings,  is ‘disordered’,” he said. “For some it appears inevitable that the church will eventually rethink and repent, as it has in the past in its attitudes to slavery and women,” reads the document.
