OTTAWA, June 10, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Prime Minister Jean Chretien’s attempt to foist troublesome former Public Works Minister Alfonsi Gagliano onto the Holy See as Ambassador to the Vatican has met with an unusual rejection by Rome.
The Vatican, apparently well aware that the Catholic PM is no fan of the Church’s central teaching authority and also aware of the scandals surrounding some of Gagliano’s government dealings, decided to save itself possible future grief by indicating it would likely veto the appointment.
