WASHINGTON, Oct 2 (LSN) – In the October 5th edition of Newsweek, home schooling is said to be becoming mainstream. Chester Finn of the Hudson Institute is quoted in the magazine as saying “Americans are becoming fussy consumers rather than trusting captives of a state monopoly.” The piece explains that the number of students home schooled has increased from about 300,000 in 1990 to around 1.5 million today.  Furthermore, the public is beginning to awaken to the benefits of home schooling. A recent Newsweek poll found 59 per cent of respondents believing home-schooled children were at least as well educated as those in the regular school system. National testing has shown that home-schooled students have fared as well or better than their age-mates in public schools.  Catholic Home schoolers of Texas:  https://www.geocities.com/Athens/Delphi/5329/Index2.html
