OTTAWA, June 15 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Bill C-23 (the Modernization of Benefits and Obligations Act), which grants most of the rights of married and common law couples to homosexual couples passed in the Senate yesterday.

Although the vote on the bill was not recorded, Progressive Conservative Senator Roch Bolduc asked for his opposition to be recorded in Hansard. During debate Liberal Senator Anne Cools spoke against the bill warning that it opens up the law to a constitutional challenge by homosexual activists for allowing homosexual marriage.

Royal Assent is expected for the Bill today.
