OTTAWA, Mar 12 (Lifesitenews.com) In the latest case of judicial negligence on pedophilia, Judge Bernard Ryan refused yesterday to incarcerate a guilty abuser. Paul Gervais, 52, pleaded guilty on Dec. 16 to seven counts of sexual exploitation, one count of sexual assault, and one count of committing an indecent act.
In total, nine boys were abused, the youngest being 14 years of age. Despite these assaults and the fact that Gervais had already been convicted for similar offenses 20 years ago, Ryan gave him a conditional sentence of two years less a day. The conditions were a six month curfew between 11pm and 6am; counselling sessions; must seek employment; and no contact with victims.
Needless to say, the victims and their parents were incredulous and distraught. “I can’t believe this,” said one boy. “There’s nine of us. He’s done this to nine of us and we have to deal with this and he just gets to walk away This is justice?”
