HONG KONG, August 24, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A Hong Kong judge overturned anti-sodomy laws as unconstitutional Wednesday, also ruling them discriminatory, after a homosexual man launched a legal challenge of the law.

Until now, men who engaged in sodomy who were 21 or younger or whose sexual partner was 21 or younger were subject to a potential life sentence if convicted. High Court Judge Michael Hartmann claimed the pre-existing law discriminated “on the basis of sexual orientation.” He also said the law was “demeaning” and “stereotyped” homosexuals as “deviant,” according to an AP report.

Homosexual activist, 20-year-old William Roy Leung, launched the suit.
