(LifeSiteNews) – Eight Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives called on the Biden administration Tuesday to end the “unnecessary” and “coercive” COVID-19 vaccine requirement for foreign visitors to the United States.
Obtained by the Daily Caller, the letter is signed by Reps. Louie Gohmert, Mary Miller, Ralph Norman, Thomas Massie, Randy Weber, Brian Mast, Billy Long, and Andy Biggs.
“As of this past May, at least 55 nations had no Covid-19 entry requirements,” the letter notes. “In maintaining societies open to lawful commerce and travel, these nations affirmed that Covid-19 is not a legitimate reason to arbitrarily shut down healthy, constructive interactions among the human race. By failing to similarly affirm this reality, your administration is coercively forcing noncitizens to choose between their own bodily autonomy and pursuing their lawful interests.”
The lawmakers go on to cite the case of Serbian Christian tennis superstar Novak Djokovic, who has been barred from participation in the 2022 U.S. Open tennis championships over his unvaccinated status.
“In some ways, Mr. Djokovic is a perfect ambassador, modeling how humanity is diminished and harmed when government places itself in the position of the authority that only the individual, in consultation with Go and chosen others, should rightly occupy,” the letter says. “He is perfect for this undesirable role because insomuch as it has depended on him, Mr. Djokovic has lived live by all metrics with extraordinary diligence and excellence.”

Djokovic “overcame war and threats of starvation to become one of the world’s top tennis players, if not the top player,” Gohmert told the Caller. “Yet, now it appears he may not be able to overcome the Biden Administration’s cold, heartless, malevolent, scientifically oblivious mentality in order to compete” in the championship.
“The current vaccine mandate for foreign travelers to the United States is not only anti-science, it’s anti-American,” Gohmert added. “At this point in time, it is ludicrous that anyone, anywhere, would currently be mandated to take this Emergency Use Authorized COVID vaccine from which the odds of personal harm increase as the manufacturer’s liability for harm or death are prevented. It is the very vaccine Dr. Deborah Birx so eloquently told us last week that she knew would not ‘protect against infection’ and was ‘overplayed’ by health officials.”
Last month, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) unveiled a proposed regulation that would continue the mandate that non-citizen visitors flying into the U.S. produce proof of vaccination before being allowed into the country.
Millions of people continue to doubt the safety, effectiveness, and necessity of the COVID shots, which were developed far more quickly than traditional vaccines under former President Donald Trump’s Operation Warp Speed initiative.
In March, it was found that 11,289 cases of pericarditis/myocarditis after COVID vaccination were reported to the federal Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS) database between January 1 and February 25 of this year, which is already 47% of the 24,177 reports for the same submitted in all of 2021. An April study out of Israel indicates that COVID infection alone cannot account for such cases, despite claims to the contrary.
COVID shot defenders claim that VAERS offers an exaggerated view of a vaccine’s potential risks, as anyone can submit a report without vetting it, but the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention researchers have acknowledged “high verification rate of reports of myocarditis to VAERS after mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccination,” leading to the conclusion that “under-reporting is more likely” than over-reporting.
But VAERS is not the only data source indicating cause for concern. LifeSiteNews has reported on the forced release of Pfizer data the company had tried to keep sealed until 2076, including reports of 158,893 serious adverse events after vaccination in dozens of countries around the world from December 1, 2020 to February 28, 2022.
Data from the Pentagon’s Defense Medical Epidemiology Database (DMED) has been similarly alarming, showing that 2021 saw drastic spikes in a variety of diagnoses for serious medical issues over the previous five-year average, including hypertension (2,181%), neurological disorders (1,048%), multiple sclerosis (680%), Guillain-Barre syndrome (551%), breast cancer, (487%), female infertility (472%), pulmonary embolism (468%), migraines (452%), ovarian dysfunction (437%), testicular cancer (369%), and tachycardia (302%).
