News

Well folks, it has been quite the campaign.  After a very slow start, we are halfway to our spring fundraising goal of $125,000 – the absolute minimum we need to raise in the next three days to maintain our current level of reporting around the world.

From all the LSN staff, thank you to everyone who has generously come forward to support our mission.  For those who have not yet donated and value the life and family news coverage we provide, please consider making a donationWe are depending on you.

LifeSiteNews.com has seen tremendous growth over the past year. In fact, last year we broke 30 million pageviews –a new record for us – and our web traffic is only continuing to increase. This makes us far and away the #1 most-trafficked pro-life website on the internet!

We have had some questions from newer readers about how their donations will be used. We are always happy to answer that.

Firstly, let me be clear: LifeSiteNews.com is a professional, international news agency that employs a team of skilled journalists, editors, and technical staff in several different countries. Our goal is to promote positive cultural change by equipping our readers with the TRUTH through investigative news journalism.

Every day our writers research and produce anywhere from 15-25 original news reports on the most important issues in the world – life, family, faith and culture. And every single month, around 1.5 million unique visitors come to LifeSiteNews.com to read these articles.

Your donation today enables LifeSiteNews.com to:

  • Employ 19 full and part-time journalists [as well as 3 volunteer journalists] and support staff in Canada, the U.S., Latin America, Europe, and Australia to provide you with original, investigative reports on issues pertaining to life and family.
  • Publish hundreds of original news articles each month, as well as provide prominent exposure to significant stories republished from other sources to give you a fuller picture of the life and family struggle.
  • Maintain the powerful web servers necessary to deliver over 3 million pageviews per month, and to maintain a publicly-accessible archive of nearly 40,000 LifeSiteNews news articles spanning over a decade and a half.
  • Employ a team of web experts, graphic designers, and programmers to keep our website running smoothly, to design new features and pages, and to generally ensure that LifeSiteNews’ website is on the cutting edge of web technology
  • Manage social media pages with hundreds of thousands of fans and followers (on Facebook alone we have nearly 300,000 fans, who receive regular updates on the critical news relating to abortion and family issues, which they then share with their own friends and followers)
  • Allows LSN to send reporters to special events such as the Marches for Life and Marriage to provide you with live, in-depth coverage – coverage that you will find literally nowhere else.
  • And much, much more!

And we are able to provide this service to you at a fraction of the cost required by most organizations that are similar in size and scope. We are able to make this happen because our truly exceptional staff make great sacrifices to keep this mission of TRUTH alive, while we keep administrative and office expenses to a very low level as most of these staff work from their homes.

LSN team members, without exception, view this work as a life-saving mission. However, many of our full-time staff are mothers and fathers of growing families, and justice demands that we ensure that they are provided with the minimum wage they need to pay their mortgages and put food on the table while they dedicate their lives to this life-saving work.

For the past decade and a half, thousands of our readers have made enormous sacrifices to support our service – because they believe in the important work we are doing and want to see it continue.

In fact, LifeSiteNews.com is almost completely donor-funded. We are not funded by any large donors, or government. This enables us to be completely free and independent to do the hard journalism necessary, to seek out the truth, without being beholden to any outside special interests.

And yet, while we are grateful for the donors who have kept us afloat, it is worth pointing out that only a tiny fraction of our regular readers have made the decision to become LifeSiteNews.com donors!

Today, I extend the invitation to you to consider joining this mission by becoming a LifeSiteNews.com donor – even if it is just $5 a month!

If you do, you can rest assured that your sacrifice will do more than you can imagine to promote the Culture of Life!

Will you show your support with a donation today?  Please be as generous as you can, and know that every donation counts.  Whether it is $5 or $5,000, every dollar is necessary and welcome.

And don't forget, we have a very generous $5,000 matching gift offer for anyone who makes a recurring donation in the next two days.

And it goes without saying, that even if you are not able to donate, your prayers are by far the most important sacrifice that you can make to LifeSiteNews.com’s mission!

Please, please, continue to keep us in your prayers every day. I can’t emphasize how important this is to us. It is the prayers of our supporters, even more than their donations, that I am convinced have ensured the success of LifeSiteNews.com to date.

Thank you for your support! I am confident you will help us reach our goal, as you always have.

For life and family,

Steve Jalsevac
