NEW YORK, Sept 3 (LSN) – The pornographic Hustler magazine has sunk to new depths recently with a new advertisement using a doctored photograph of Pope John Paul II and Fidel Castro. The blasphemous marketing tool shows Pope John Paul II looking at the magazine with Castro and has the caption: “For the Love of Christ, Subscribe Today!” On the pope’s clothing is a yellow sticker that reads: “I saved 44%”; the word “Hustler” appears below it. (At the bottom of the full-page ad was a disclaimer admitting the alteration of the photo.)  The US Catholic League earlier this week expressed its outrage over the ad. Catholic League President William Donohue wrote a letter to the magazine’s editor, Allan MacDonell saying “Not surprisingly, this [ad] shows that your appetite for bigotry is on a par with your appetite or obscenity, and that’s really saying something.”
