In the 1960s I studied at the propaganda institute called the University of Windsor in Windsor, Ontario in Canada.

I was a green, very naïve young lad, and trusted and absorbed all that my compliant mind was fed by the liberal professors and Basilian priests at the college (there were also some good profs and experiences), as well as by all the media which I constantly devoured. I was a news junky even then.

As a result, over the next five years I became thoroughly indoctrinated into the thinking of the 1960s sexual, religious and otherwise cultural revolution.

I was transformed into just one more of the many millions of similarly faithless, sexually liberated university graduates who thought we were now among the privileged elites with special knowledge.

Then, in 1977, my life began to dramatically change and, thanks to a variety of highly providential influences, which I did not deserve, I was blessed to wake up from my self-centered, godless life.

Fast forward to today: I have been working full-time in the pro-life movement for nearly three decades, and am one of the two co-founders of this 16-years-old pro-life and pro-family news and information service called LifeSiteNews. But more importantly, I am a husband, a father and a grandfather of 11 grandchildren (so far).

A father has serious obligations to his children.

Besides letting them know that they are always loved, he must guide them to seek and to treasure truth, and to know where they can find that truth.

I did not want any of my children to be deprived of the benefit of my life experiences. I did not want them to repeat the same mistakes that I made, mistakes that led to suffering and heartbreak. This happened in my own life, but much worse has been my painful witnessing of terribly negative effects in the lives of precious family and friends – suicides, marital breakdowns, desperate loneliness, mental collapse, loss of faith and much more.

Hence, it has been my love duty to tell, or in some other ways expose, my children to truths that sometimes they may not have wanted to hear, but needed to hear. Most importantly, I have sought to teach them to think about their Eternal Life – something to which I gave little thought during those lost years of my youth.

My work with LifeSiteNews.com has been an extension of those same heartfelt concerns that developed from the awareness of my fatherhood obligations. I know that this is true for our editor-in-chief John-Henry Westen and several of our staff who have had similar “coming home” experiences.

That is, we have felt a profound personal obligation to warn others, to help them avoid the heartache of being the victims, as we were, of the lies and manipulations spread by some of the most influential and most powerful and deadly voices in our culture.

That is why we call this news service a mission. And that is why you can trust LifeSiteNews to accurately report the most important things that need to be reported, without apology.  We really care about our readers. They deserve the truth – always!

We have learned that there are things that just have to be reported, regardless of what others think, or whether or not they are “politically correct,” or what consequences we might suffer for reporting them.

We cannot pretend that we have not learned what we have learned. And we cannot shirk our duty to steer others away from the same destructive path that many of us went through.

That is where LifeSiteNews.com comes in.

Many important aspects of your life and the lives of your family, friends, children, community and nation, are dependent upon reliable, trustworthy information – particularly about the most important issues: life, family, faith and culture.

But it is precisely on those issues that we cannot trust the anti-life and anti-family mainstream media who have become advocates, or have become implicated in the Culture of Death.

Our goal is to stand in the gap on those issues: to be a reliable voice of truth for you and the many organizations and leaders who depend upon this service.

But to continue to do that job well and constantly, we are totally dependent upon your financial contributions.

We don’t owe anyone a biased or too comfortable story line. We are not controlled by major donors, Church bodies or officials or other organizations. We are not concerned about losing advertising revenue for publishing controversial stories. We are even not concerned about losing donations over what has to be published on a new development that we realize is significant but very controversial.

Being dependent upon providence also has an upside.

This is a very unusual situation for any news service to be in.

You benefit.

We are free to report what is really happening, like a father is free to tell his family what they need to hear, but also what will help them to grow in love and understanding of truth and what they can do to respond to that truth.

It is a big task – much larger than even just a few years ago. Running this growing organization now costs over $1 million per year, with a total of 27 full and part-time and volunteer staff, in addition to many talented contracted persons who we rely upon.

Amazingly, ALL of those involved with LifeSiteNews are committed to the mission. That is, for them, their work is not just a job. It is a life purpose. It is their personal contribution to the betterment of our world, so desperately in need of truth and goodness.

Please help us fulfill this mission with a donation to our Christmas campaign.

With $27,000 having been donated so far, we have a long ways to go yet (another $173,000) to reach our necessary goal of $200,000 by December 31.

With a donation, you too, become a part of this dynamic, fearless mission to restore a Culture of Life at a time when all the principles of life and family are under relentless attack.

Please join us with a gift of whatever amount that you can afford, which we will treasure and which you can be certain will be put to good use.

God Bless,

Steve Jalsevac
