SPRINGFIELD, Illinois (LifeSiteNews) – Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) signed into law a package of extreme pro-LGBT laws last week that legalize knowingly spreading HIV and redefine LGBT individuals as “infertile” to grant them insurance coverage for ethically compromised fertility practices, among other things.

On Tuesday, Pritzker signed House Bill 1063, which deletes a section of Illinois’s criminal code that banned consciously exposing people to HIV. The statute applied to drug use and sexual activity, as well as to donating blood or organs, and classified criminal transmission of the life-threatening infectious disease as a Class 2 felony.

Gov. Pritzker suggested that the changes will make Illinois “a safer and more inclusive state” and will “advance Illinoisans’ ability to live their fullest lives.”

HIV continues to be a debilitating, life-threatening illness, with nearly 40,000 diagnoses in the U.S. in 2018 and 1,361 in Illinois, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). People who know they have HIV account for around two-thirds of transmissions, the agency has said.

The enactment of the HB 1063 makes Illinois the second state, following Texas, to repeal all criminal penalties for spreading HIV. It also comes after the federal government last year substantially reduced restrictions on blood donation for homosexuals, who still make up the vast majority of HIV cases.

“This is just another example of Gov. Pritzker’s egregious war on victims in Illinois,” said Illinois state Sen. Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro), according to Breitbart. “His obsession with defending criminals and those who would intentionally do others harm has solidified him as the most dangerous governor in America.”

Other bills approved by Pritzker on Tuesday include House Bill 3709, which reclassifies “infertility” as “a person’s inability to reproduce either as a single individual or with a partner without medical intervention,” contradicting the actual, medical definition of the condition.

HB 3709 mandates that insurance companies cover infertility services, like in vitro fertilization (IVF), for homosexuals and single people. IVF, strongly denounced by the Catholic Church, often involves the destruction of human embryos, millions of which may be abandoned or discarded at fertility clinics across the country.

Additional practices covered by HB 3709 include “uterine embryo lavage, embryo transfer, artificial insemination, gamete intrafallopian tube transfer, zygote intrafallopian tube transfer, and low tubal ovum transfer.” The law will affect around 20 percent of insurance plans in Illinois, the bill’s sponsor, state Rep. Margaret Croke, a Chicago Democrat, said.

Gov. Pritzker also signed two bills, House Bill 2590 and Senate Bill 139, that change marriage certificate rules, adding “gender-neutral” options and allowing pronoun changes. Other states, like Wisconsin, have imposed similar measures this year.

As the governor’s office noted in a press release last Tuesday, Illinois has already taken several radical pro-LGBT steps, like requiring “LGBTQ+ history” in public school lessons and mandating Medicaid coverage for transgender surgeries, during Pritzker’s tenure.
