INDIANA, November 18, 2016 (LifeSiteNews) – Indiana state legislator Rep. Curt Nisly said that in January, he plans to introduce a bill banning all abortions in the state, which could be a potential challenge to Roe v. Wade if it passed and abortion advocates fought it all the way to the Supreme Court.
Nisly told local media that in introducing the Protection at Conception Act, his “goal is to treat the death of an unborn child like you would any other human being. As an elected official, I will continue to support pro-life policies seeking to preserve the dignity of all human life and provide a voice for the voiceless.”
The Protection at Conception Act would criminalize abortion and those who participate in it.
The Indiana American Civil Liberties Union blasted Nisly's plan as “unconstitutional.”
The pro-life group Hoosiers for Life is supportive of the legislation. Indiana Right to Life, Governor-elect Eric Holcomb, and other state legislators have not yet commented on or expressed support for Nisly's proposal.
