NEW YORK, Apr 3 (LSN) – The Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute (CAFHRI) released a report today noting that the final preparatory committee (PrepCom) meeting to establish a permanent International Criminal Court (ICC) ended today at UN headquarters in New York City. The next stage will be the United Nations Conference of Plenipotentiaries on the Establishment of an International Criminal Court, set to meet from June 15 to July 10 in Rome. The Rome Conference is expected to finalize and approve a convention to establish the court, which will then be submitted to the General Assembly for adoption.  Much potentially dangerous language remains in the documents headed for final debate and approval in Rome. Included are feminist-sponsored phrases which would further erode the sovereignty of individual nations, and wording to facilitate the persecution of pro-lifers and the overturning of pro-life legislation. According to CAFHRI’s report, “the Women’s Caucus for Gender Justice has argued for a completely independent court, rather than one that would report to another body such as the UN Security Council.” The feminists also managed to maintain language condemning “enforced pregnancy” as a war crime in the document headed for Rome.
