October 17, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Tenth International Life and Family Congress will be held in Baja California, Mexico at the Auditorio Cetys Universidad this weekend.
Speakers will include former Planned Parenthood clinic director Abby Johnson, C-FAM’s Wendy Wright, pro-life attorney Ingrid Tapia, Juan Dabdoub of the Coalition for Human Rights in Favor of Life and Family, and others.
Conference organizer Marcela Vaquera told LifeSiteNews that the annual congress “began with the joint effort of many different social groups to modify our state constitution so it would protect life from conception until natural death.” Although they initially failed to reach their goal, the coalition that resulted began to organize conferences.

“When we didn’t achieve our goal in 1998, we decided to keep lobbying for the constitutional amendment, but at the same time, educate our people in all the life and family aspects that we could,” said Vaquera
“This is our tenth international conference, we have learned a lot in all these years, with such fine speakers as Dr John Wilke, Bobby Schindler, Dr Janice Crouse, Dale O leary, Lech Walesa, Nick Vujicic, among many others. We’ve had people from Spain, Canada, Russia, Uganda, Ecuador, Argentina, Nicaragua, United States.”
“Our conference is not only about the abortion issue. It tries to cover all the aspects of the dignity of all human beings, euthanasia, IVF, adoption, post abortion recovery, family counseling, etc. In our previous conferences we’ve had disabled advocates and even a concentration camp survivor. We have been informing and updating the people of our state for ten years.”
“Finally, on October 23, 2008, our state constitution was modified! We still have a lot of work to do. The polls show that people in Baja California are 90% pro life, [but] we would like to have that number raised to 99%.”
Vaquera is encouraging people from the southern United States to attend the conference as well. More information can be found in Spanish at the conference website.
