ROME, May 10 (Lifesitenews.com) – A proposed bioethics law in Italy will put scientists in jail for 10-20 years for cloning human embryos. Also, those who engineer fertilization using semen from a donor apart from the married couple, or who use a dead husband’s sperm will incur sentences of 3-10 years. On top of the jail terms, fines from $60,000-$180,000 have been proposed. Scientists found guilty would also lose the right to continue their practice.

Shamefully Canada has no law to govern cloning and the practice of other reproductive technologies.
