Dear friend of life and family,

It’s Lent. For many of our readers that means 40 days of fasting and sacrifice to prepare spiritually for the celebration of Christ’s resurrection, of life over death. Will you consider making a Lenten offering to help LifeSiteNews.com carry on its life-saving mission? Click here.

Lent is an especially important time for the pro-life movement, not least because of the 40 Days for Life campaign that is underway in cities all across the world. So far 156 babies have been saved from abortion, thanks to the 40 Days vigils.

But protecting the lives of the innocent isn’t easy. Last week we reported after a homemade firebomb was thrown at an elderly 40 Days participant in Montana.

Then yesterday, we reported on the ongoing harassment against 40 Days participants in Washington state, including one despicable incident where a man in a mask displayed pornography at the pro-life vigil site.

Also yesterday, we reported after a New York City crisis pregnancy center across from one of the largest Planned Parenthoods in the U.S. was practically destroyed by burglars.

Truly this Lent is a time when pro-lifers are being asked to bear the cross with Christ.

Here at LifeSiteNews.com we are currently working under the dark cloud of the lawsuit that was filed against us earlier this year. It has also been a very intense Lent for our Rome correspondent, who found out on Ash Wednesday that she has cancer. So far the prognosis looks good, but we ask you to keep her in your prayers.

In the larger picture, however, I know that all of our staff have sacrificed much for this apostolate, putting aside their own plans for their lives in order to put in long hours doing difficult work for very little pay.

I am also keenly aware that many of our readers have sacrificed much to keep LifeSiteNews going over the past 14 years.

Every day I give thanks for the generosity of both our staff, and our supporters…like you.

But now, during this Lenten season, I have to ask you once again to considering making a sacrifice for the sake of LSN’s mission.

Right now we are only about 40% of the way to the goal for our spring fundraiser. We need your help to reach our $75,000 goal, so that LSN can continue to operate until our next quarterly fundraiser. Please support LifeSiteNews with a generous donation today by clicking here.

Despite all the obstacles and hardships involved in promoting the culture of life in a hostile culture, those of us who are involved in the pro-life and pro-family movements know we have to carry on,

At the same time, despite the difficulties, we are continually buoyed by the hope of the final victory. We strive for the victory of life over death, and believe that Christ’s Resurrection assures that victory will take place – indeed, already has taken place.

We realize that your Lenten sacrifices are already significant. Whether you’re fasting and praying, participating in 40 Days for Life, donating to Japan’s relief efforts, or perhaps giving to your Diocese’s Lenten Appeal, we understand that many of you are already spread thin.

Yet we know that you are convinced of the importance of this work, and because of that, lives have been saved, scandals have been averted, goodness revealed, and hearts converted.

During this Lent, help LifeSiteNews persevere. Together we can contribute to the final victory, to the triumph of life over death, of the Resurrection over the cross.

Please donate to LifeSiteNews’ Spring Campaign today. Whether it be $5, $50, $250, $1,000, or even $10,000, your donation will help others around the world stay informed and activated. And united in the Culture of Life, we can anticipate extraordinary victories.

Thank you for your support.
