VANCOUVER, Jan 10, 2001 (LSN.ca) – Donald Brenner, Chief Justice of the British Columbia Supreme Court has ruled the NDP BC government can continue to push for homosexual marriage. Brenner rejected arguments by the federal Attorney General seeking to have the provincial government remove itself from participation in a Charter challenge to legalize homosexual marriage.

While lawsuits from homosexual couples have been launched seeking to legalize gay marriage, the federal government is also facing two court challenges from governments in Canada. As LifeSite reported last year, BC commenced its legal fight for homosexual marriage about one month after the City of Toronto initiated a legal challenge at the Ontario Superior Court seeking to allow homosexual marriage.
