HOUSTON, April 11, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) – District Court Judge John Coselli, Jr. has ordered mediation to resolve a class action lawsuit filed by 145 women who were injured by abortions and are suing the state of Texas for failing to enforce its own abortion regulations.  The plaintiffs suffered a variety of physical and emotional injuries, including ruptured uterus, sterility, severe guilt and depression. Their suit alleges that the state failed to properly regulate informed consent; failed to investigate unlicensed abortion facilities or to regulate licensed clinics; failed to prosecute illegal activities; failed to crack down on unlicensed individuals carrying out abortions; and failed to deal with child abuse leading to pregnancy.  “We’re alleging that they do not adequately give women enough information about the nature and consequences of abortion for them to make fully informed and voluntary decisions,” said attorney Allen Parker, CEO of the Texas Legal Foundation representing the plaintiffs. “We’re not seeking any damages,” Parker said. “We’re simply seeking an order that the state follow and enforce its own laws.”  For coverage from CNSNews:  https://www.cnsnews.com/ViewNation.asp?Page=%5CNation%5Carchive%5C200304%5CNAT20030414b.html   For previous coverage:  CLASS ACTION SUIT AGAINST TEXAS FOR NOT ENFORCING ABORTUARY REGULATIONS https://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2003/apr/03041105.html
