ELLSWORTH, WI, August 31, 2001 (LSN.ca) – A U.S. Circuit Court judge has ordered a 26-year-old woman, convicted for her part in the dehydration death of her infant daughter, not to have any further children. The woman was sentenced to 10 years’ probation and one year in jail, and told she could face more jail time if she had another child without permission from the court or her probation officer.

Wisconsin American Civil Liberties Union executive director Chris Ahmuty criticized the restriction, saying bearing children is a fundamental right. A recent Wisconsin Supreme Court decision said that a man who owed $25,000 in child support can be ordered not to father any more children.  https://www.jsonline.com/news/state/aug01/kid31083001a.asp
