MOAB, Utah, November 13, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) - A Utah judge has reversed a judicial order that said children raised by heterosexual families do better in life than those raised by homosexual couples.

Earlier this week, Seventh District Court Juvenile Judge Scott Johansen issued the order, which removed a one-year-old girl from the home of a lesbian couple who had been legally "married" last October.

Judge Johansen has crossed out a portion of his ruling that "the Court orders the Division to place the child with a duly married, heterosexual foster-adoptive couple within one week."

He amended another section of the order but did not waver in his "concern that research has shown that children are more emotionally and mentally stable when raised by a mother and father in the same home."

Plaintiffs Beckie Peirce, 34, and April Hoagland, 38, threatened to appeal the original ruling, which they said was based on his religious views, not hard research.

However, a number of social science studies have affirmed that children of homosexuals are not as successful as the children of heterosexuals. Dr. Douglas Allen of Simon Fraser University found that children raised by same-sex couples were 15 percent less likely to succeed in school than those raised by heterosexual parents. They were 23 percent less likely to be academically successful than children raised in single parent homes.

The most comprehensive study, conducted by Dr. Mark Regnerus, found that children raised by homosexual couples are more likely to suffer from a number of emotional and physical deprivations, including a significantly elevated likelihood of suffering sexual molestation.

The study generated a massive backlash from homosexal lobbying groups. But in 2012, the University of Texas at Austin dismissed charges that Dr. Regnerus' study was the product of his Catholic religious beliefs.
