WASHINGTON, May 20, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Massachusetts Senator John Kerry said Wednesday that he would have no trouble appointing a pro-life judge to the courts, as long as that would not lead to overturning Roe v Wade. Kerry claimed that in the past he has voted for “any number of judges who are pro-life or pro-something else that I may not agree with,” as reported by the Associated Press.  While addressing a crowd of supporters in attendance at the pro-abortion March for Women’s Lives last month, Kerry repeatedly emphasized his support for abortion. “If you need any motivation [to vote for me] let me give you three little words – the Supreme Court,” he said, as reported by MyWay News. Kerry promised to appoint only Supreme Court Justices who are in favor of abortion, rather than, by implication, justices who would faithfully uphold the constitution and not usurp the law-making role of elected officials.  John Kerry, who does not hesitate to promote himself as a Catholic, has made a point of highlighting his support for abortion with no restrictions. He was praised by the abortion extremist group, NARAL Pro-Choice America as having a 100% pro-abortion voting record.

“More than 30 years after Roe vs. Wade became the law of the land, it has never been more at risk than it is today,” Kerry said at the March, according to mlive.com. “We are going to have a change in leadership in this country to protect the right of choice.”

Meanwhile, Bush campaign spokesman Steve Schmidt said Kerry was trying to have his cake and eat it too. Schmidt described how one of Kerry’s campaign promises was to only nominate pro-abortion judges. “John Kerry’s reversal today on appointing pro-choice judges shows a startling lack of conviction on an issue that someone seeking the presidency should approach with principled clarity,” he said, as reported by The AP.  Read the Boston Herald story: https://news.bostonherald.com/opinion/view.bg?articleid=3835&format=
