DETROIT, Nov 25 (LSN) – Macomb County, Prosecutor Carl Marlinga issued a warning to Jack Kervokian today. In response to Dr. Death’s offer to “donate” organs from his victims, Marlinga warned, “The removal of vital organs would go beyond assisting suicide, and could constitute the crime of first-degree murder. Removing organs (after death) constitutes the crime of mutilating the human body. It’s probably easier to prove than even the assisted-suicide charge.”

Conviction on a first-degree murder charge carries a mandatory life sentence, while mutilating a body has a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. Calling the Kevorkian offer of organs a publicity stunt, Marlinga noted that organs from Kevorkian’s victims would be contaminated with the drugs used to kill them.
