NEW YORK, September 1, 2004 (LifeSiteNews.com) – In a radio interview, Republican Senate candidate Alan Keyes called U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney’s daughter, Mary, a “selfish hedonist” because of her homosexual lifestyle. Keyes was interviewed Tuesday by Sirius OutQ satellite radio, a station aimed at homosexuals.

“The essence of … family life remains procreation,” Keyes said, as reported by the Drudge Report. “If we embrace homosexuality as a proper basis for marriage, we are saying that it’s possible to have a marriage state that in principal excludes procreation and is based simply on the premise of selfish hedonism.”  The interviewer then asked Keyes if he was implying that Mary Cheney was “a selfish hedonist.” Keyes replied: “That goes by definition. Of course she is.”  While speaking at a campaign rally August 24, Vice President Cheney said “People ought to be free to enter into any kind of relationship they want to,” according to an ABC News report.
