RENNES, France, October 15, 2001 (LSN.ca) – James C. Kopp, accused of killing abortionist Barnett Slepian has lost his extradition appeal in France. Kopp’s Buffalo attorney Paul J. Cambria said, “Ultimately, I want him back here, and he wants to come back here to fight these charges. But his French attorney has been telling him to keep fighting extradition, because he couldn’t possibly get a fair trial in this country.”

Acting U.S. Attorney Kathleen M. Mehltretter said Friday that Kopp lost an appeal last week in France’s highest judicial court, “but he can still make one more appeal to the Conseil d’Etat, which is the superior administrative court of France.”
