BUFFALO, June 17, 2002 (LSN.ca) – James Kopp, the pro-lifer accused in the shooting death of abortionist Barnett Slepian, has received permission for private Masses in prison.  Because of the high profile of his case, Kopp has been kept isolated from all other prisoners and thus unable to attend Masses held for other prisoners.  An unidentified priest has agreed to provide the private services.  Paul J. Cambria Jr. said on the issue, “I can tell you that the one and only issue that (Kopp) has stressed to me is that he wants to attend Mass. It’s very important to him.” McCarthy Gipson, superintendent of the Erie County sheriff’s jail management division, told the Buffalo News that other than the request for private Masses and Kopp’s request to receive a new rosary, “he’s been no problem at all for us.”  See the report Buffalo News:  https://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20020616/1047273.asp
