KOSOVO, Yugoslavia, Apr 1 (Lifesitenews.com) – A causal factor in the current genocide taking place in Kosovo appears to be the massive depopulation experienced by the Serbs under its Marxist regime. Kosovo, populated largely by Muslim and Catholic Albanians (both valuing large families) has experienced a population boom with 35,000 people added to their number every year in recent years, while Serbians found their numbers dwindling with over 15,000 more deaths than births per year.
LifeSite has learned that when these demographic statistics were presented to Serbian political leaders they reacted with alarm. In June of 1998 Marijana Milosavljevic authored a report on Yugoslavia’s demographics entitled ‘Serbs Alarmed at Declining Birthrate; The Extinction of the Serbs.’ The paper cites Rada Trajkovic, the Serbian Minister for Family Concerns who announced during a 1998 visit to the Mother and Child Institute that “the state must find a way to stimulate the birthrate of the populations in central and northern Serbia and to limit or forbid the enormous increase of the birthrate in Kosovo.”
Government leaders attempted in vain to enlist the media to convince the Serbian population to abandon long-standing communist-initiated anti-natalism. Having failed in the plan to “stimulate the birthrate” of Serbians, perhaps the genocide of the Kosovars serves to “limit or forbid the enormous increase of the birthrate of Kosovo.”
