MONCTON, NB, November 15, 2002 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The chief of obstetrics and gynecology at the Moncton Hospital, which began a debate in New Brunswick over abortion two weeks ago by stopping all but emergency abortions, has revealed the main reason for halting the procedure – lack of informed consent.  Dr. David Kogan told the press that patients often show up for abortions without critical information they need to make an informed decision such as how far along they are in their pregnancies, and without having arranged pre or post abortion counselling.  “You reach a point where you say I can’t continue in this fashion,” said Kogan.  Peter Ryan, President of Campaign Life Coalition New Brunswick and executive director of the New Brunswick Right to Life Association has responded to Dr. Kogan’s concerns demanding legislation “to guarantee that women considering abortion are given complete information by their physician before being referred for an abortion.”  See the Canadian Press coverage:  https://www.canada.com/search/story.aspx?id=269c4ddc-67ed-48ef-a8ce-bcd3847a85e0
