There is only one day to go in the LifeSiteNews summer campaign, with a hefty $40,000 yet to be raised. Are we worried? Oh, yes. But then again, readers always appreciate us telling them up front what the situation is and often respond to our need with a donation at the end. So we’re hoping and praying that will happen these last few days.
As we have mentioned in the past, if many regular readers donated at least $5, we would very easily make our goal.
Can you donate at least $5?
A complicating factor this campaign is that we had to send a rare postal mailing to LSN donors at the end of May regarding the almost $89,000 in legal bills still owed for our defense against the SLAPP suit from Quebec priest, Fr. Raymond Gravel.
Many readers, especially from Canada, responded generously and we have received a total of $65,000 from that appeal – not enough to pay the bills, but enough to make a big dent in them.
However, well above and beyond those onerous legal bills, our substantial operating expenses still have to somehow be covered.
This requires others to step forward in place of those who gave all that they could towards the defense costs.
Can you step in with a donation at this late hour?
By the way, we discovered only today that there has been a technical glitch this campaign preventing supporters from making donations by logging in to their LSN donation account – but there is a solution.
Once logged in, when they select “donate” from the drop down menu, an error message appears. Hopefully this has not deterred too many of our supporters from donating to the Summer Campaign, and of course, we are not happy about the really bad timing of this coding error.
Our donation processing company has put the problem as ‘highest priority’ and we hope to have it resolved shortly.
In the meantime, you can still make donations by going to our homepage and clicking on the fundraising thermometer. This will take you to a donation page through which you can submit your donation. Just be sure not to log in to your account to make the donation.
All it will take is for a few thousand of the millions of readers that come across our site each month to make a small $5, $10, $20, or $25 donation to bring us to our goal.
And, of course, if you are able to give more substantially, now is the time!
