Toronto lawyer claims murder is a reflection of love   REGINA, Oct 20 (LSN) – The Saskatchewan Court of Appeal judge who heard arguments in the double appeal of the second murder trial against Robert Latimer reserved his decision on Monday. Evidence was presented by the Crown contesting the constitutional exemption which gave Latimer a meager two year sentence rather than the minimum 10 year sentence mandated for second-degree-murder convictions.  Latimer’s defence team was joined by famed Toronto lawyer Edward Greenspan. The Canadian Press reported that Greenspan told the court “This is simply a tragic case of a man who loved his child too much.” In 1993 Robert Latimer used his car as a make-shift gas chamber to kill his 12-year-old disabled daughter Tracy. It remains to be seen whether the appeal judge will accept the novel definition of love submitted by Mr. Greenspan.
