(LifeSiteNews) — Hall of Fame football coach Tony Dungy has joined the chorus of voices that have pushed back against misleading pro-abortion messaging from the NAACP.
Like many liberal organizations, the NAACP was live posting on X during this week’s debate between Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump.
Abortion was one of the first subjects to come up, with Harris refusing to say she was for any restrictions on the barbaric practice as Trump pressed her to say if she is in favor of abortion in the seventh, eight, or ninth month of pregnancy.
Trump drew additional attention to the fact that former Virginia Democratic Governor Ralph Northam said in 2019 that it would be up to the mother and doctor to “execute” the baby after birth or not if he or she survived. He also said Harris’ VP pick Tim Walz believes “abortion in the ninth month is absolutely fine.”

Several conservative journalists, including Margaret Mary Olohan, shared footage of Northam to their X account proving he said the stunning remarks in order to debunk pro-abortion voices who said Trump was lying about their position.
This is the video Trump keeps referencing when he discusses Dems supporting the execution of babies:

The NAACP replied to Trump’s factually correct statements by falsely asserting that, “you cannot have an abortion in the 9th month. You cannot have an abortion after birth. If we didn’t keep banning books, maybe we wouldn’t have to clear that up. #Debate2024.”
That incorrect claim prompted Dungy – and others – to hit back with the truth.
“In Florida we will be voting on Amendment 4 this November that would take all limits off the timing of an abortion,” Dungy, who won the Super Bowl in 2007, said. “If it passes we would become the 10th state where that type of late term abortion would be legal. Please don’t distort the facts to make a point.”

Reporter Emma Camp from the libertarian website Reason also fact-checked the NAACP.
“9 states and DC place no gestational limit on abortion. A quick Google search turns up clinics here in DC that provide abortions up to 36 and 32 weeks,” she said in an X post.
As mentioned during LifeSite’s post-debate analysis, Harris, who has received an “F” from Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, voted against advancing the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act in 2019, which calls for medical assistance for babies who survive abortion attempts. She also voted against advancing the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act in 2020.
Heritage Foundation Vice President Roger Severino, former Trump spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany, and scores of other journalists noted that Democratic lawmakers across the U.S. have technically voted for abortion up to and even after birth and that Walz and Harris are in favor of that policy.

Trump was 💯% correct. Post-birth abortion is real and Harris-Walz support it. At least 5 babies were born alive after botched abortions and left to die under Walz’s watch. The ABC moderator decided to inject herself into the debate.

This is a good reminder that the left HATES having to defend abortion using clear, unambiguous language because even the hardest hearts know that what they propose is wicked. This is why they mumble and equivocate. The pro-life side, in contrast, speaks w/clarity & confidence. https://t.co/gNA0OGik1w

Dungy’s remarks are not the first time he has expressed strong support for the unborn. In July 2022, he issued a series of tweets calling for more laws that protect innocent life.
He also called out Joe Biden for his pro-abortion policies in 2021 and in 2023 and was attacked by a USA Today columnist after he shared and then deleted a tweet that said that some schools were putting litter boxes out for students who identified as cats after there were confirmed reports of students dressing up during the school day as “furries,” which means pretending to be animals.
Florida’s Amendment 4, the so-called “Amendment to Limit Government Interference with Abortion,” states that “no law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient’s health, as determined by the patient’s healthcare provider [i.e., abortionist].” If enacted, it would require abortion to be allowed for any reason before fetal “viability” and render post-“viability” bans effectively meaningless by exempting any abortion that an abortionist claims is for “health” reasons.
Direct abortion is always gravely immoral and is never needed nor justified for alleged reasons of “health.”

Former President Trump has clarified that he will be voting against the amendment, which needs 60 percent to pass, after initially saying that the state’s current six-week heartbeat abortion ban is “too short” and that “there has to be more time.” Florida GOP Governor Ron DeSantis blasted congressional Republicans from the state who have yet to come out against the measure during a party conference last Saturday.
