WASHINGTON, D.C, Jan 14 (LifeSiteNews.com)  The leader of a homosexual activist group has sparked further debate this week in the US with the announcement that she and her lesbian partner have adopted twins. Human Rights Campaign leader Elizabeth Birch and her partner Hilary Rosen, plan to raise the children in their Maryland home.  Among those condemning the move is Robert H. Knight of the Family Research Council (FRC). “Homosexual activists put their personal desires above the rights of these children to have a chance at a normal family life with a father and mother,” he said. “A mountain of social science, the world’s major religions, common sense and observation tell us that children have the best chance to thrive in married, mother-and-father-based families.”

In a press release FRC urged states to refrain from the deliberate creation of motherless or fatherless families and urged adoption agencies to refrain from placing children in homosexual households. Knight notes that “More than a million married couples   are awaiting the opportunity to adopt children. Why not give kids the best possible chance at a normal, healthy family life instead of using them to make a cultural statement?”
