RE: Leaked: ND Prez Comment on USCCB Document Prohibiting Honoring Pro-Abortion Politicians
https://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2009/apr/09040808.html
Are we, once again being asked what the meaning of “is, is?” Really. How ignorant does Fr. Jenkins thinks we are? The purpose of the directive is to give direction, no matter if the words “provisional” are used. The direction of the Bishops is clear. No pro-culture of death Catholics and more importantly, pro-culture of death non-catholics.
Please, Fr. Jenkins, do what you know in your heart is the right and courageous thing. Disinvite President Obama and give glory to God.

So Fr Jenkins wants us to know that he has followed the letter of the Law because Obama is not a Catholic politician, as lawyers have advised him. I certainly cannot see how he can claim that he is following the spirit of the USCCB document when he ignores the fact that Obama is the most abortion promoting president, and gives him a platform; or does he not realise that actions speak louder than words?
If he disagrees with Obama but gives him a platform, then who will represent all the babies killed in the womb or the teaching of the Church, while the Church representative gives honours to Obama? If his opposition to Obama’s anti-life policies is not being heard it’s his own fault – his actions speak louder. No wonder Jesus had such harsh words for the lawyers!

Editor,
Faithful Catholics are outraged at the invitation by President Jenkins of Notre Dame University to President Obama to speak at commencement and more astoundingly to receive an honorary law degree. Fr. Jenkins is well aware of the Holy Father’s teaching. He is well aware of the directives of the US Catholic Bishops. He has seen the outrage of hundreds of thousands of Catholics, hundreds of priests and nearly thirty Bishops, as well as the voices of pro-life non-Catholics who have looked to the Church as an ally. President Jenkins is giving a platform to a man who is the greatest threat to the innocent pre-born in the history of our country.
Christianity is about surrender, not prideful arrogance. We pray: “Thy Will be done”, not “our will be done.” We choose to surrender to the teaching of the Church, not because we are thoughtless automatons, but because we are thoughtful followers of Christ. As Catholics, we submit to the authority of The Holy Father, descended from Blessed Peter, as the Vicar of Christ on Earth. We are called to follow his teaching and that of the Universal Church, enlightened by two thousand years of Holy tradition and the Gospel of our Lord. President Jenkins has clearly turned away from his responsibility as a Christian, a Catholic and a priest. He has pridefully placed his own will above that of the Pope, the Bishops and our Lord.
I join all other faithful Catholics, Christians of other denominations, faithful Jews and Muslims and all pro-life friends of any religion in demanding that President Jenkins reverse course now. There is no shame in admitting a mistake, no loss of honor in surrendering to the Will of our Lord, Jesus Christ. There is, however, great shame and dishonor in continuing along a course of prideful disobedience and allying himself and the university of Our Lady with the culture of death. President Jenkins holds some authority as president, but he is a priest, not a bishop. He is subject to the ruling of his Ordinary, Bishop John M D’Arcy. I look with appreciation at Bishop D’Arcy’s letter denouncing Jenkin’s invitation, but also respectfully call on Bishop D’Arcy to consider more forceful action in this matter. According to the Code of Cannon Law: Can. 392 §1. “Since he must protect the unity of the universal Church, a bishop is bound to promote the common discipline of the whole Church and therefore to urge the observance of all ecclesiastical laws.” Though he has no secular legal authority to prevent this travesty, the Bishop can censure and even suspend a priest. Such an action, in the face of Jenkin’s obstinacy, would send a message to the faithful and evoke a change of heart among other so called Catholic educators.
President Jenkins has been allowed by God to attain his position. “Of whom much is given, much will be required” (Luke 12:48). President Jenkins has proven himself to be a “progressive” Catholic and therefore likely has little regard for “old fashioned” concepts like the belief in salvation and judgment. If he proceeds on his present course he will no doubt believe in Hell once it becomes his forwarding address. President Jenkins should either act like a Catholic priest or stop pretending to be one. I am truly shocked and ashamed that the name of Our Lady could be be treated in such a degrading manner by a man who purports to be a Catholic priest.

Rev. John Jenkins, in my modest opinion, should step away as the President of a Catholic University and take some time off to think if he should continue being a Catholic priest.
His argument about it being a ‘tradition’ to have the President of the United States at this event is obscene, while he is forgetting about the only ‘tradition’ that is supposed to matter to a Catholic priest: ‘The word of Jesus’.
Priests like Rev. Jenkins are the ones confusing people. He is with Jesus or is not. He cannot have it both ways.
It is time for Rev, Jenkins to say mea culpa or walk away.

Dear Editor,
I would like to wonder out loud about what is happening in the Alumni Office of Notre Dame University.
Are the alumni voting with their wallets? I mean “with-holding” what is in the wallets!
Will this finally get the attention of the President of Notre Dame? Might he then allow President Obama to withdraw as a commencement speaker?

We, Aussie Kennedys say well done to ALL the pro-life USA CatholicClergy and laity that have spoken out against the impending visit ofPresident Obama to Notre Dame. Please keep up the good work pro-lifersas you give heart to so many worldwide that believe in the right tolife of all!
It is self evident that any person planning to attend at NotreDame commencement day would not be alive, not even a head of governmentif they had been aborted! but is this ever reflected upon? Bet Not!
Pro choice/pro abortionists cant it have both ways ie openly workagainst the Catholic Church on such a fundamental issue and thenaccept awards from a prominent Church insitute such as Notre Dame! Where is the logic there and besides how can such acceptors feelcomfortable about taking an award that has drawn so much controversy!
Wouldnt it be better for all if such a person desisted from attending! The University should have thought twice before it issued such aninflammatory invitation! It should be rescinded!

I and my family are with you. This is to let you know that I am so grateful, thankful to have somehow “stumbled” over your site, LifeSiteNews.com. The “window of opportunity is in danger of being slammed shut.” We do not have the “luxury” to leave any stones “unturned.” Obama and all of his ilk is going full speed ahead with no turning back. We, too, cannot turn back. We must go forward, like St. Paul and not take our eyes off of Christ, not even for a micro-second.

RE: Obama is Pro-life
So some Notre Dame priests are against Obama because he doesn’t wantpoor women butchered in back alleys (while wealthy women get safeabortions legal or not), and believes in trying to alleviate thesuffering of those with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s etc. I’m sure, however, they would have had no trouble inviting George Bush 43 wholeft people clinging to rooftops for dear life in New Orleans, weakenedmining safety standards, refused health insurance to children who fallthrough the cracks, tried to loosen trucking regulations so truckerscould drive with no sleep and endanger us all, launched a war of choicethat has left thousands of Americans and Iraqis dead or seriouslyinjured for life, and women begging over there because they lost theirhusbands and are unemployable, and warehoused immigrants in unsanitaryconditions, where some were left to die with no record of their deathmuch less a dignified burial.
Contrary to what the Right believes, life does not end at birth. Injust eight or so weeks in office, President Obama has shown morerespect for life and human dignity than Bush did in eight years. He’sprovided 4 million formerly uninsured kids with health insurance, reached out to allies to restore a united front against true enemies, given scientists permission to alleviate illness, ended torture in ourname, and is speaking to moderate Muslims so that the voices of hateare not the only ones they hear. Obama is not just pro-life, he’spro-human dignity.

RE: Thanks to LifeSiteNews
I’m in 8th grade at a small private Catholic school. Even some of my classmates believe that abortion is a great thing, and gay marriage is moral. I have showed some of them your comprehensive and honest news reports and made them think about what they really support. LifeSiteNews helps keep me informed, and you provide the truth when the media is so biased. LifeSiteNews shows the kind of change the world needs, not Obama. Thank you so much for continuing to fight for unborn children. They appreciate it.
Sincerely and Respectfully,

Prominent Pro-Family Activist Julio Severo Flees Brazil to Escape Charges of “Homophobia”
https://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2009/apr/09040914.html
Editor,
I’ve seen everything now. Does the Brazilian government really believe that 99% of its citizens are a cause for concern? Isn’t it more likely that it is the 1% who are the problem? The government of Brazil sounds more and more like the communist dictatorships of the USSR, China and last, but not least, the Nazi government of Germany. It is sad for Severo, his family and friends; but in the end, like all those totalitarian states, the truth will be revealed and the government of Brazil will be defeated in the same fashion.
