RE: ‘Abortion Should Remain Legal’ says Prominent ‘Conservative’ Frank Schaeffer
https://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2009/jan/09011302.html
To the Editor:
Schaeffer’s position has become relatively common. Many in the pro-life movement now see the pro-life cause as lost. Those people, however, have a short view of history. It took the Church many centuries to eradicate the evil of slavery in the civilized world. As efforts to eradicate the evil of legalized abortion in the West, which has been around only a few decades, have so far failed, they are willing to throw in the towel.
We have to realize that legalized killing of unborn children is an intrinsic evil and hence is contrary to the will of God. It cannot be accepted as such. As a result, those of us in the pro-life movement must methodically, prayerfully, and confidently proceed with the battle to bring legal protection to the unborn child and to stop procured abortion everywhere. Anything less would be a sell-out.
The belief that abortion should be kept legal is simply a blind spot in the minds of many in this particular era of history. There have been other blind spots regarding the acceptance of certain evils by society (lasting decades or even centuries) particular to given eras of history which have subsequently been healed. The good must keep up the fight to enlighten the blind.

RE: Obama To Work to Repeal Federal Defense of Marriage Act, Promote Homosexual Adoption
https://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2009/jan/09012109.html
Dear Editor:
Many people voted for Barack Obama because they wanted to see a Black man as president of the United States. I’m Black, but I’m not proud of Barack because he is going to give Black people a bad name with his promotion of abortion, gay agenda and other immoral positions. Even worse, he claims to be Christian while promoting these things.
I hope that the American public eventually learns that it is not good to vote for someone who promotes immoral policies regardless of the colour of his skin. And if the Republicans or Democrats do not provide good choices, then look to third parties to vote for.
Sincerely,
Mark Price

Sir,
You are doing a great job in reporting the pro-life news in an objective manner.
I prayed this morning for an answer to three questions: 1) What is the pro-life movement doing the wrong way?; 2) What should the pro-life movement do in a different way?, and 3) What should the pro-life movement do that it’s not doing?
I now have a partial answer: many pro-life people think you can have your cake and eat it too. Obama can’t be a promoter of abortion and homosexuality, can he? How could such a smooth-talking, pretty face be advocating evil? Many people don’t understand. Period. And many voted for this guy based on wishful thinking and worshipping at the altar of “change”. The pro-life movement will continue failing unless we kick out politicians promoting abortion and other social-engineering experiments. But to accomplish that we need to remember that wrong, however prettily wrapped, is not right. But, how could we do that? As a society, we have collectively murdered our conscience.
My life would be very pleasant if I did not have to work for pro-life: many Catholics are bored by the whole issue, too, making it more difficult than it should be. I’d like to quit, and, only for the bad interview I’d have with Christ after death, I would do so.
Keep up the good work!

I was truly disheartened when I read about readers complaining or criticizing LSN for printing facts. Perhaps those who are offended are realizing, and afraid to admit, they voted for someone (Barack Obama) who strongly supports issues that are completely against Christian values. Keep it up, LSN, the truth must be told and heard.
