Re: Human Services Dept. Allegedly Pressured Teen to Get Abortion

Dear Editor,

We see many late term abortions taking place at the Cherry Hill Women's Center and forced abortions and children brought in for abortions by guidance counselors straight from school without their parents' knowledge.  It is one of the worst abortion clinics in our country.  Between 40 and 80 abortions take place daily at this one clinic!  But we have seen many miracles happening also because of our peaceful presence on the sidewalk of the clinic.

Last week two new volunteers had the joy of witnessing a six month pregnant mother change her mind who was being forced to abort by the baby's father.  The week before a women driving past saw us.  She had an abortion many years ago and we were able to give her information on abortion healing organizations and help her begin her healing process.

Our peacefully presence on the sidewalk has brought hope to so many men and women.  We are in the process of starting a signature campaign to allow parental notification to be put on the ballot this November in New Jersey.  Please visit us at https://www.abortionclinicvigil.com/ to learn how you can help.

Re:: Why I like LSN best!

Dear Editor,

I want you to know that, by means of the Internet, I get all sorts of pro-life news from around the world, but I find LSN the best.

This is because (i) it is the most readable, and (ii) it gives contact details when its readers want to protest, or whatever, to someone in any particular item of news.

Readability – and I'm not just talking about content – I'm talking about paragraphing, graphics, quotations etc – all very readable.

Re: Steve Jobs Says iPad Revolution Means ‘Freedom from Porn’

I would like to thank Steve Jobs for taking a stand against porn.  How refreshing and invigorating to see a man with conviction using his power to protect children and families.  Thank you, Steve.

Re: Gallup: Pro-Life the “New Normal” on Abortion in U.S.

TO THE EDITOR:

A widely employed and accepted euphemism in today's USA, is calling legalized Abortion, “Freedom of choice.”  Pro-abortion politicians declare support for “A woman's 'Right to Choose,” without having to complete that statement. It goes without saying, it means “The Right to Choose to kill a pre-born baby.”  But that would sound too graphic.

“Freedom of Choice: therefore, has virtually replaced the actual, God-given, Constitutionally guaranteed “Right-to-Life,” in the Liberal and democratic Parties Platforms, (without even being mentioned in the “Bill of Rights.”)

It's baffling therefore, that the same Liberal mentality supports the “Obama Health Care Bill.”  This Bill not only ignores all aspects of “Freedom of Choice,” in matters of Health Care, for States, Industries, and individuals, but actually imposes legal penalties on those who would choose a different, though Constitutionally legal, course of action.

Thus “Freedom of Choice” is revealed to be what it really is, a mere euphemism to be used for subterfuge when it suits the Liberal agenda, and ignored when it doesn't.

Only when U.S. voters “get back to basics” and demand and support actual God-given, Constitutional rights, will we cease to be manipulated by politicians, whose anti-Constitution agenda, seriously threatens the future of the US.

To the Editor:

For those who love life and consider it sacred recent encouraging developments in Ottawa have to be a refreshing wind in their sails. The culture of life is still very much alive in Canada and there is growing evidence the pro-life movement is gaining momentum.

Canada's largest ever March for Life last week had twelve thousand plus people on Parliament Hill, with standing room only at many of the events. And they were in good spirits with the recent defeat of legislation in Parliament to legalize euthnasia and the vote to exclude abortion in the G8 maternal health initiative.

There can be little doubt that the abortion debate will be very much a part of the next federal election campaign. It is simply unacceptable that an otherwise intelligent country like Canada while progressive on many human rights issues still allows unrestricted abortion where a fetus can be aborted right up to the day of birth when countries like Britain, Spain and the Netherlands at least exercise a minimum of restraint in prohibiting abortion after 20 weeks.

This just fight not unlike the battle to abolish slavery led by William Wilberforce in the British Empire in the early 1800's is a spiritual and moral battle for the right to life and the defence of the unborn and a growing number have the courage to wage the war.

Re: Cardinal Ouellet to Canadian Gvmt: Take Stand For Life at Home Too

Perhaps now that Cardinal Ouellette, Primate of Canada, has graced the annual March for Life with an address, D&P may feel encouraged to tone down their references to pro-life “extremists”.

Re: Non-Catholics Trying to Lie Their Way into Teaching at Ontario Catholic Schools

There is a tremendous amount of irony about non-Catholics “pretending” to be Catholic in order to get a job with the Catholic school board – since many of the teachers who were born and raised in the Catholic Faith are quite far away from the Church both in terms of their belief and practice.    My fear is that, at least in some schools, Catholicism wouldn't be that hard to fake.

My recommendation is that the bishops should issue more detailed guidelines to parish priests as to what should be included in pastoral references, and what sort of questions should be asked of teachers requesting such references.   I would also recommend that each diocese offer an orientation course for new teachers in the Catholic system, modelled after the RCIA course.   That way, if someone wants to become Catholic just for the job, well – we'll make sure they get the full treatment.  And if someone is a Catholic, but has some things that need to be worked out, there's a chance to do that.

Monday May 10 2010 Ciara Byrne of the Canadian Press reported on the issue of teachers converting to Catholicism to obtain a teaching position within the Catholic system. You rightly reported on this on Monday. I was quite surprised to learn of this practice although it may not be widespread it is unseemly.

I checked with our local vice pricipal at St. Mark Catholic School and learned that the board in Eastern Ont. willingly hires non-catholic teachers. I was told the board in Renfrew also has this practice. It is my understanding that the Peterborough board also employs non catholics. One would wonder how on earth a non-catholic can teach catholic values (which is in most boards' mission statements) if they are not practising Catholics.

The situation in Catholic education is ridiculous. Our children went through the system just at the time Cardinal Carter negotiated full funding for Catholic schools. Many of us Catholic parents at the time felt this was a very bad decision as we felt we would lose control of our own schools——and now there is no doubt that we have.

Re: Cardinal Primate of Canada Slammed by Media, Receives Death Wish for Abortion/Rape Comments

Dear Editor,

As a confirmed member of the Anglican Church of Canada I wish to declare my unequivocal support for a woman's right to choose to have an abortion. The Roman Catholic doctrine concerning abortion is in error and must be opposed by all true Christians. I will always be pro-choice and I totally reject as repugnant, the recent remarks that a woman who has been raped cannot have an abortion. Your Primate, Cardinal Ouellet is to be condemned for his  despicable and evil statements!
