March 21, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) — Pro-homosexual activists are calling on tech giant Google to remove a Christian app from its online store because it contains information on overcoming unwanted same-sex attractions.

Living Hope Ministries’ smartphone application contains a “selection of audio and video teachings, devotionals, helps for family and friends,” and “the latest news from all LHM locations,” according to its Google Play page, for the purpose of helping users “seek a more intimate relationship with Jesus Christ.”

Despite its innocuous stated purpose, the app has come under fire for including in its “help” session stories that tell users their homosexual feelings can be ignored or changed, Fox News reports. So the pro-LGBT organization Truth Wins Out (TWO) is circulating a petition demanding that Google remove the “hate app.” It has more than 139,000 signatures as of this writing.

“By any standard, the app is awful,” TWO claims. “It brazenly compares homosexuality to an addiction. It casually trashes LGBT people as living ‘destructive lifestyles.’ Living Hope, the creator of the app ... refers to gay men as ‘sexually broken guys’ who can ‘walk out of false identities’ and claims, without evidence, that the ‘gay lifestyle’ is ‘spiritually and physically harmful.’”

The group has previously succeeded in getting the app purged from Amazon’s, Apple’s, and Microsoft’s online stores, but Google has yet to take action. Fox reports that the company has held “staff-level discussions” with LGBT groups on the matter.

On January 31, Living Hope published an open letter to Apple CEO Tim Cook (an open homoexual and outspoken liberal) on the subject by a member identified only as Walker, who detailed his own struggle with homosexuality.

He attested that LHM does not preach that people can simply “pray the gay away” or even publicly speak out on the topic, but simply preaches “God’s forgiveness, grace, and redemption through the Gospel of Jesus Christ” and offers a “safe space for people, who struggle with SSA and want to live in obedience to an orthodox interpretation of scripture, to share openly and encourage one another.”

TWO “cherry-picked phrases from video clips and articles, and even provided no reference to support [its] allegations of the ministry offering conversion therapy or preaching ‘pray-the-gay-away,’” Walker continued. The organization “didn’t because [it] couldn’t find any, and [it] couldn’t find any because LHM does not offer any kind of therapy.”

One of the top reviews on the app’s Google Play page agrees. “I cannot see what all the fuss is about,” it reads. “This is a very good app which seeks to share the love of God without compromising His holiness, there is nothing offensive in it unless someone chooses to be offended, which seems to be fashionable these days. The Biblical message cannot be watered down to suit the permissive society we live in. Choice is never removed from the individual, not even by Almighty God, but there are consequences for the choices we make. Heb 9:27.”

If Google ultimately decides to ban the app, it will be the latest in a series of reports and incidents suggesting the internet giant’s liberal bias. Numerous leaked private conversations appear to show not only that the dominant ideologies at Google are dramatically out of step with the country at large, but that the company is willing to enforce those ideologies through its ostensibly neutral services and platforms.

Other Google scandals include analysis finding a heavy liberal tilt to news sources, estimates that Google may have swung as many as 2.6 million votes to Hillary Clinton in 2016, partnership with the left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center for flagging “hate,” and the restriction of videos from conservative groups such as Prager University and Live Action.
