OTTAWA, August 13, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Homosexual activist and Liberal MP Scott Brison is all set to be “married” to his homosexual partner next Saturday, making him the first federal politician to do so since Canada legalized same-sex “marriage” two years ago.

The Globe and Mail reports that the ceremony for Brison, 40, and his homosexual partner, Maxime St. Pierre, will occur next Saturday in Brison’s Kings-Hants riding in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley.

Brison says that St. Pierre proposed to him after the Liberals, under then-Prime Minister Paul Martin, passed the same-sex “marriage” bill in June 2005. The Globe reports that Brison, however, has declined to discuss his “wedding” details.

Brison’s legal union with St. Pierre will happen within two weeks of a similar ceremony for Ontario cabinet minister George Smitherman, who entered into a same-sex “marriage” with partner Christopher Peloso at a northern Ontario resort last week.

Brison, a former Liberal Leadership candidate, defected from the Progressive Conservatives in 2003 after that party merged with the Canadian Alliance. Martin praised Brison as a “tremendous addition” to the Liberal Party.

Brison has long distinguished his political career with his homosexual activism; one highlight includes posing nude for a fundraising calendar. In addition, in 2005 Brison made headlines when, as Public Works Minister for the Liberal Party, he was forced to read a letter of apology in the House of Commons after he admitted to lying about the National Citizens Coalition being charged under the Elections Act six times with breaking federal lobbying laws while now-Prime Minister Stephen Harper was its president.
