US SENATOR CONFIRMS CEDAW ALL ABOUT ENFORCING ABORTION

WASHINGTON, Mar 13 (LSN.ca) – Speaking in the US Senate on March 8, Chairman Jesse Helms responded to a call to have the Foreign Relations Committee and the Senate consider ratifying the Convention of Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).

Helms said:

“I say dream on because it is not going to happen. Why has CEDAW, the Convention of Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, never been ratified? Because it is a bad treaty; it is a terrible treaty negotiated by radical feminists with the intent of enshrining their radical anti-family agenda into international law. I will have no part of that. … Under this treaty, a committee on the elimination of discrimination against women is established with the task of enforcing compliance with the treaty.’ … excerpts from the reports that the committee … provide a telling insight into the hearts and minds of the authors who wrote this treaty in the first place.”

“They propose global legalization of abortion. The treaty has been intended, from the very beginning, to be a vehicle for imposing abortion on countries that still protect the rights of the unborn. For example, this committee has instructed Ireland, a country that restricts abortion, to ‘facilitate a national dialogue on the restrictive abortion laws’ of Ireland and has declared in another report that under the CEDAW treaty ‘it is discriminatory for a [government] to refuse to legally provide for the performance of certain reproductive health services for women’ – that is to say, abortion.”

FBI INVESTIGATING BABY PARTS MARKET AFTER HEARING

WASHINGTON, Mar 13 (LSN.ca) – On Friday, one day after members of the US House Subcommittee on Health and the Environment asked the Justice Department to conduct an investigation into the illegal trafficking of aborted baby body parts and tissue for profit, the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Kansas City, Missouri announced an investigation. “We are investigating possible criminal violations in the marketing of fetal tissue to determine if there is a violation of federal criminal law,” FBI spokesman Jeff Lanza told Reuters. While the ABC 20/20 special was very limited in its coverage, the fact that the issue was given any recognition at all seems to have added impetus to the urgency to investigate the matter.

Miles Jones, operator of one of the baby parts harvesting companies, who was recorded by 20/20’s hidden camera discussing making thousands of dollars a week selling aborted baby parts, was subpoenaed to testify before the committee but did not appear so was held in contempt of Congress.

BRITAIN GETS NEW GUIDELINES PROMOTING ABORTION

LONDON, Mar 13 (LSN.ca) – A new set of guidelines on abortion funded by the British Department of Health and drawn up by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, is being hailed by abortion activists, but condemned by pro-lifers as “irresponsible.” Speaking for the College, Gillian Penney, who led the team of senior gynaecologists which drew up the guidelines, said, “Abortion is a safe procedure that should be funded by the NHS and seen as an integral part of a reproductive and sexual health care service.” “The Care of Women requesting Induced Abortion” says that “Women should be offered the procedure within seven days of a request for an abortion being agreed.”

Rather than a professional analysis, the guidelines read like the selling brochure of an abortionist. “Only a small minority of women experience any long term adverse psychological sequelae after abortion,” says the document. “Early distress, although common, is usually a continuation of symptoms present before the abortion. Conversely, long-lasting, negative effects on both mothers and their children are reported where abortion has been denied.”

Professor Jack Scarisbrick, chairman of the British pro-life charity, Life, retorted: “We can show that abortion is at least three times more dangerous than childbirth. … There is growing evidence of links between induced abortion and breast cancer, psychiatric illness, infertility, pelvic inflammatory disease and cervical incompetence.”

IRISH GOV’T SUED FOR PRO-ABORTION, PORNOGRAPHIC SEX-ED

BELFAST, Mar 13 (LSN.ca) – Nora Bennis, leader of the Christian Democrats In Ireland, is leading the charge to ban the sex-education materials used in schools. She and a large contingent of parents are seeking to determine if books or videos in use in primary schools would breach censorship laws.

Bennis points out that the Usborne Facts of Life Series book, “Babies Growing Up”, explains to primary school children how mentally handicapped babies may be aborted. It reads: “If the doctors have reason to believe that a baby is likely to be seriously mentally or physically disabled … the parents sometimes decide that it would be better if the baby did not survive. If they do, the mother goes into a hospital or clinic and the baby is removed from her uterus.” The Sunday Times notes that another book in the primary school catalogue, Where did I come from?, explains conception, love-making and orgasms in detail.

“Why are they trying to explain orgasms to seven-year-olds?” said Bennis. “There’s a huge volume of evidence to show that interfering with the years of innocence in children does irreparable harm – and exposure to explicit or sexually graphic material can do damage.”

Proving her case, the Belfast Telegraph reported Saturday on the second 11-year-old mother in Northern Ireland. Department of Health officials confirmed records of two 11-year-old children giving birth in 1999. The paper reports that apart from the two 11-year-olds, a 13- year-old, sixteen 14-year-olds and 56 youngsters aged 15 became mothers last year in the relatively small community.
