* As with abortion and same-sex benefits the federal government has again chosen to allow the courts to govern when it comes to the issue of marijuana. Health Minister Allan Rock will not appeal an Ontario court ruling allowing an AIDS patient to smoke marijuana.
* Pornographer Larry Flynt (Hustler) was permitted to plea bargain with the crown after all proposed jurors refused to view more than 30 hours of hard-core porn videos; Flynt agreed to pay $10,000; he faced 24 years in jail.
